At Lead Out Physical Therapy - Your Ability to be Active Comes First
About Lead Out Physical Therapy
What is "Lead Out" ?
In the sport of cycling, a lead out refers to one rider setting a fast pace for a teammate who is drafting behind. Typically this is done at the very end of the race as everyone sprints to the finish line which allows the following rider to be shielded from the wind - saving energy and thus gaining an advantage over the rest of the field.

Here at Lead Out Physical Therapy, that is exactly what we want to give you. An advantage over the rest of the field.
Get To Know me!
Hi! My name is Jim, the founder and lead physical therapist at LOPT. I'm so glad you're here, and even though I hate talking about myself, my wife says I need to share more about me so you know who you're working with.
After years of practicing sports medicine and physical therapy in non-traditional medical settings like the Army and NFL, I founded Lead Out Physical Therapy.
Similar to my previous experiences, LOPT gives me the freedom to spend as much time as needed, getting to know you, and giving you the best care possible.
Unlike traditional clinics that provide 30-minute appointments, I want to give you a better experience by taking my time with you and not being rushed to the next appointment.

Spending time with you means we get to figure it out together....we can dig into what is REALLY the problem and avoid a rushed rehab plan that ends up frustrating you, or worse, not working to get you back to your active lifestyle.

Taking time with you is how you'll get better and it's my mission to have a sustainable clinic, that doesn't rush patients' care.

Outside of my philosophies, I'd like to share a bit more about my background.
Before starting LOPT, I served as an assistant athletic trainer and physical therapist with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League.
In the eight years before the Panthers, I was a physical therapist for the men and women of the United States Army Special Operations at Fort Liberty in North Carolina as a member of the Tactical Human Optimization Rapid Rehabilitation and Reconditioning (THOR3) program.

Additionally, I have worked at Duke Sports Medicine, North Carolina State University, and Trinity College in both athletic trainer and physical therapist roles. I'm a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Alongside running Lead Out PT, I am also a sponsor for the Jigawatts Cycling team, and I serve as an assistant instructor for Double E Education's dry-needling courses.

My professional interests include injury prediction monitoring/management, injury prevention, return to sport training, and working with golfers, runners, cyclists, and triathletes.
I am an avid cyclist and triathlete, as well as a 9x Ironman distance triathlon finisher. I currently live in Raleigh, NC, with my wife Melissa and two dogs, Betty Boop and Maple.

At LOPT, we prioritize your health and well-being above all else. We understand that navigating the healthcare system can be challenging and lead to poor patient satisfaction. Lead Out Physical Therapy does not participate in any insurance carrier network.
Why? Because we believe in providing you with the highest quality care, tailored specifically to your needs, without the limitations imposed by insurance networks.
Insurance networks often have constraints, such as:
-
Restricted session numbers
-
Pre-authorization requirements
-
Standardized treatment plans
-
Limited session time
-
Lack of coverage for specific treatment options that support your recovery (ex. Dry Needling)
-
Seeing a physical therapy assistant or tech versus a physical therapist
These limitations can hinder your progress and delay your recovery. At insurance-driven facilities, you may feel like just another patient in the system rather than receiving the individualized care that LOPT provides.
